Update-

So I wanted to look back at my nba picks and see how i did...

in the EAST i picked all 8 teams correctly. I even picked 4 of them in the correct spot.
Boston over Atlanta
Detroit over Philly
Toronto over Orlando
Cav over Wizards.

I still see the pistons coming out the Eastern Champs.

in the WEST i picked 7 out of the 8 teams. I only picked one in the correct spot (utah). I was very interested to see how tight it would be and who would get in. The Lakers and Denver were the biggest suprise to me.

Lakers over Denver
Dallas over Hornets
Suns over Spurs
Houston over Utah

I will stick with the Suns still as well.

Journal.

So I try to post on this as much as I can. I would really like to get a few posts before I start to tell people about The Denver Club. I have been sick for the past few weeks and I am now just starting to feel a little better. We recorded some music the other day and IK have to say it is so easy to get lost in a recording. When i was about 18 I started recording with my bandmate Brent and not until a few weeks ago did it feel as good as when we were just kids with a tape player. There is something so true and raw about talented kids making music together.

I was checking out SnowGhostMusic.com and reading some of their journals today and I actually enjoyed on so much that I posted a reply. They were talking about touring and how it is nothing like people think. I think there was something about a tour bus with a Dairy Queen Blizzard Machine. The truth is touring is hard and something it gets to the point where you just want to get home. But even a tour sleeping in the van is worth it for connecting with people who enjoy music. It's like living a dream sometimes. http://snowghostmusic.com/blog

One last rant- I am about sick of people. I don't know if it's the weather or what but people are just getting a little out of control. Working at a cafe it is amazing to watch the actions of some. I had this old guy come in the other day and ask for a chai. After making his drink he noticed that I had some extra that I was going to throw out. "What are you going to do with that?" he asked. I said, "Throw it out..." He then asked, "Why don't you just put it in another cup for me then..." I wanted to say, "Because you bought a medium you cheap fucker." but I just said, "I am sorry I can't, it wouldn't be right." The best part is that he acted pissed.

All and all I am ready for spring. I ususally don't worry too much about the cold, but I really would just like to see some sun, and some people out and about. Bring on Lake Michigan.

24.

On Monday I came down with a horrible case of “The Mondays”. I think it then worked into a chest/head cold. I went home from work early and actually slept from Monday at 3pm to Tuesday at 3pm. I got to the point where I woke up and just had to walk around because I was so sick of being in bed.

I am really excited for the new Malkmus album to come out. I have been looking forward to it even though I know it will be saturated with guitar solos. "Hey Steve lay off the drugs, you have kid(s)." I read that Rolling Stone gave the album a 4 1/2 star rating. Now, I am a huge supporter of the Jicks but it is very clear that this album will be his worst yet. I mean, for the Malkmus fans out there, it's going to be a great spring with new tracks. I do doubt you will find them on burnable discs for his fans loved ones. I still have a feeling that Jenny and the Ess Dogg still has that wrapped.

February and it has not stopped snowing here in Michigan. I love it but my bones are starting to get restless. Call me fair weathered.

Signed,

too much too much.

Too much of something is usually not a good thing. Over my 24 years (almost 25) I have learn the simple fact that everything works in moderation. The one exception would be cinnamon gum. There is no amount that I can really enjoy when it comes to cinnamon flavor.

Last week I drank too much. I think I had two nights where I actually passed out. That’s not cool. I really try to keep it to a one-night max (joke). But really it has been nice to get back into the week and start sober and refreshed.

Sundays have a way of resetting my schedule. I try to make it to church every weekend not for the sake of it “making me better than others” but for the sake of a solid grounding for myself. Sundays give me order and bring me back to reality. I think about all my relationships with people, my goals, my expectations and I look forward.

I have been trying to not look back so much. I think it is good to reflect, but only for growth and not to dwell. Dwelling leads to harsh feelings. I am trying to drop all my hard feelings and change.

Having enemies only takes time and effort. Why would I waste my time avoiding people are talking about them when “I don’t even care”. “Not that I care but…” I seem to use that a lot and I need to stop. If I really didn’t care I wouldn’t bring it up.

War stubbornness.
War efforts to bring others down.
War not growing.

NBA Playoffs.

I have not caught more than a minute of NBA basketball for many reasons this year. 1- I think there is a problem with a lack of quaily and value (At one time they would wear suits to the game). 2- I only have to tune into the last minute of the game (it's getting to be like NASCAR, you watch for a few drunks, and to see who is going to really try in the end). 3- lack of time and ability to watch.

Either way I am going out on a limb with 32 games left and the trade deadline still open:

EAST-

1 Boston over 8 Atlanta
4 Washington over 5 Orlandp
2 Detroit over 7 Philly
3 Toronto over 6 Cleveland
-----------
1 Boston over 4 Washington
2 Detroit over 3 Toronto
-----------
2 Detroit over 1 Boston

WEST-

1 New Orleans over 8 Golden State
5 Suns over 4 Utah
2 Spurs over 7 Lakers
3 Dallas over 6 Houston
-------------
5 Suns over 1 New Orleans
2 Spurs over 3 Dallas
-------------
2 Spurs over 5 Suns

FINALS-

Detroit over Spurs

This is all based on a few numbers. I figured a formula factoring in PPG, PA, RBS, TO, and current ranking after 50 games.

1. Pistons
2. Boston
3. New Orleans
4. Spurs
5. Utah
6. Suns
7. Dallas
8. Golden State

Solid Winter.

As the winter drags on here in Michigan I have been spending a lot of time looking at bands on myspace. I play in a band that travels and so I love to check and see what other artists are up to around the country. A few that I have been loving are:

Lake- Olympia, WA
http://www.myspace.com/lakemusicmusic

I first heard them while looking for labels for my band Happy Hour. After finding them I was hooked on their pop song "Higher Than Merry" http://www.browninteriourmusic.com/mp3s/lake/lake_higherthanmerry.mp3
I do not know that much about the band, but I have to say you should really check out their myspace and give them a shot.
----------------------------------------------------

The Bicyles- Toronto, ON
http://www.myspace.com/thebicycles

Much Lake I found these guys while searching for Labels. There is some great humor with this band. I pretty much have to tap my foot while listening to them. I really like "I know We Have to be Apart" on their myspace. The drums are very interesting, and I love the female vocal. Along with four tracks The Bicycles also have a few videos on their myspace as well. Also you can access their website via the link.
----------------------------------------------------

Mitch Vermeersch- Kalamazoo, MI
http://www.myspace.com/mitchvermeersch

Though I am not a huge fan of the production of the tracks on his myspace I would have to say I visit his site a couple times a week to check for new songs. He just took down the track "My Cold Cup of Coffee". That was one of my favorite tracks from the past year that I found. The production on that song was a bit tighter than the others, but still have that open feel to it. If you are looking for quality lyrics and great feeling check out Mitch.

White Chili

As my first blog I would like to set the tone for what is (could be) to come. I would like to post in regards to many topics. I try to be a versatile person and so I hope my blog will reflect that.

currently enjoying:
americanos/stephen malkmus/snow/bill laimbeer/old time hockey/new demos/old photos/girlfriends/political change/npr.

about:
the denver club was once a joke that almost became a reality. the concept was to get dressed up extremely nice and have a large meal with a good group of friends that could talk about anything. with respect, the group would exchange ideas about politics, religion, sports, music, art without hard feelings about opinion. the concept never bloomed, so it never really failed. this is my attempt to share the denver club on a different level.

this is enough for now, but i will be posting now and then. check the "minutes" if you miss anything.
